product packaging
Product packaging is one of the most interesting projects for graphic designer, where designer geta a chance to work on the layout of the three dimensional object. Main challenge of the project is to decide what should be on the package to attract potential buyer, and in what order information on the package should be presented, in other words, what side of the package will be viewed first, and what content should go on the back panel.
work process:
As with any other design project, I start work on packaging by collecting content and deciding what part of the content should go on which panel. While working on this part of the project, I create rough draft of the package with content. After discussing details with the client, and deciding what content should be where, I start work on actual design. Sometimes package design involved taking product photos, finding royalty free photos or creating illustrations, each time I do what is necessary for the particular project.
advice to clients:
Getting dyeline and print file specifications in advance from the print shop where you plan to print package always saves time and sometimes money. Package printing can be complicated and expensive project, always select printer who will provide print proof so you can see what to expect and make adjustments if needed.
