diagrams and charts
Almost any business at some point needs diagrams or flow charts. Charts and diagrams can be used as part of the presentation in Power Point, in all sorts of reports, brochures, manuals and instructional booklets, trade show displays, user guides or any kind of marketing or presentation materials.
work process:
Regardless of complexity of the chart or how chart will be used, I always use Adobe Illustrator for chart/diagrams projects. Since most of the time material on the diagram is related to specific industry, work on the graphic requires constant communication with client and most of the time several revisions have to be created before final image is completed. Also most of the time, diagrams require use of the additional graphical elements such as icons, symbols and illustrations. Work in Illustrator allows me to revise and update chart, incorporate existing and add new graphical elements to diagram fast and easy.
advice to clients:
Try to provide designer with detailed description of the diagram you need. Your rough mockups in Visio or even hand sketches are very helpful. Regardless of what use you have in mind for the chart now, always request artwork from designer for the future updates and different use.
