booklets
Usually I use Adobe inDesign, CorelDraw or Quark Xpress to create layouts for the multiple page documents. Some clients request to create document which later can be easily updated by client without any professional desktop publishing tools; in those cases I simply use Microsoft Word. Each application has its own advantages and limitations, but final result – print ready files and small web downloadable PDFs could be achieve with any of these applications.
work process:
AFter I receive all information from the client, I create first draft which usually consists of 3 different layouts of the first page of the document, then I make revisions based on client's feedback until client is happy with layout. I usually use Adobe Illustrator for the first draft. After client approves page 1, I create template based on approved layout in application I will use for the project and place content of the entire document into template layout.
advice to clients:
Proofread and finalize all text as much as possible before we use it in layout. Even small changes in content can be time consuming and cause changes to the template and to the entire document layout.
