Magazine and newspaper ads are very important way of advertising any product or service. Ad could be black and white or color, big or small, but regardless of its size, shape or color it has to be designed the way so reader sees your ad on the page and want to read whatever you have to say. It could be a very challenging project since you don't know layout of the page where your ad will be published, you don't know what other ads on the page will look like.
work process:
Work process for ad design isn't really any different from other design projects – collecting content, selecting image, and creating design. Tools are standard too - Illustrator and Photoshop. The most important is to catch attention, make text easy to read, and make logo and contact info prominent.
advice to clients:
Get ad specs from the publisher before you request work on design – "half page" in not enough information to determine size of the ad. Get complete specs – ad size, maximum file size, format, bleed requirements, resolution – everything to make shure your ad file is ready for publishing on time.
