Probably the most popular form of advertising is direct mail – fast, cheap, effective. Tools I use to create postcard design are the same as any other design project – Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Postcard is a project when photo image or illustration should tell everything before person starts to read the text so image should be selected very carefully. work process:
At the beginning of the postcard project, I create 3 different layouts of the each side of the card, and then I work on the layout until client is completely happy with it. Most of the time when I work on postcard project, client has text and image or idea of what image should be on the card, and my job as designer is to implement client's ideas using my skills and professional expertise.
advice to clients:
As for the most print projects it's a good idea to check with your printshop for standard sizes of the cards. Using standard size postcards will save you a lot of money on printing and mailing. USPS requirements should be kept in mind when designing postcard. There are certain areas that should be left blank for postage, bar codes and addresses.
