Unlike flyers posters and displays are designed to be observed from the distance. Another difference is that the time viewer spends looking at the posters or displays is a lot shorter than time spent on any document in hands, so amount of information on poster or display should be limited, and each part of the message should be very clear.
work process:
Work process on posters and displays design is not that different from work on postcard, but file size is considerably bigger. I prefer to use Adobe illustrator for the layout, but all photo images are prepared in Photoshop. I prefer to have all other graphical elements in vector format to keep file size as small as possible.
advice to clients:
The most important information on the display should be on viewer's eye level. Also keep in mind that bottom part of the display on tradeshow is often covered by table.
